Pershing Square Shoots Down Jon Stewart Rally
The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart has plans to bring his “Rally To Restore Sanity” to Los Angeles. But he won’t be bringing it to Pershing Square. Organizers wrote on the event’s Facebook page that Pershing Square had denied the permit to hold the rally there. Because after years of trying to transform one of the most blighted and architecturally horrendous public spaces in America into a functional, active part of city life, hosting a rally led by two beloved entertainment figures–a rally that stands to attract international attention–just seems like an awful idea.
Here’s hoping Stewart’s crew tries the Cornfield–an old industrial brownfield that was refurbished into a lovely park a couple of years ago.
