People: The First Step Out Of The Closet

We were reminded by celebrity p.r. guru Ken Sunshine at the American Magazine Conference in Arizona of the importance of People magazine to celebri-clients like Lance Bass, who chose the magazine as the forum earlier this year to announce that he was gay. Now that Neil Patrick Harris — a.k.a Doogie Howser, M.D. — has followed suit, we’re starting to buy into Sunshine’s premise of People as a safe haven from the likes of Perez Hilton.
