Not All Bad News for Media and Entertainment

While unemployment has surged to a whopping 7.9 percent, there is one area that may not be feeling the brunt of the market quite so badly. The New York Times reported that movie ticket sales were up 17.9 percent and attendance was up by 16 percent this year. If this surge continues, the Times predicts that tinsel town could see its biggest box-office surge in at least two decades.

This isn’t a new phenomenon either according to Pricewaterhouse Cooper Transaction Services Entertainment & Media Leader Thomas Rooney.
