Maxim is launching a new digital application that works as a mobile edition of the magazine. The app, aimed at tech-savvy young men that are ostensibly the biggest demographic of the magazine. NEW YORK-Maxim, the largest young men’s lifestyle magazine in America,
and Bite Sized Candy, a new mobile applications company, launched
Maxim’s Handstand Edition – a mobile version of Maxim magazine available immediately in Apple’s App Store for Apple products including the iPhone and the iPod Touch. The app is designed to provide readers with the same content, reader and advertising experience as the printed magazine, optimized for a mobile environment.

Readers who download the Maxim App – the first built on Bite Sized
Candy’s patent-pending Handstand technology – get the latest issue of
the magazine, complete with full-color, high-res pictures that they can
control using special browsing and zoom features. Beginning with the May issue of Maxim, advertisements will be seamlessly integrated into the digital version. In upcoming editions, readers will be able to link to additional, exclusive content from the digital version, such as videos, product websites and corresponding information available on the Internet.
A free preview of the Maxim App is available each month through iTunes
and can be purchased as a single copy ($2.99) or full year subscription
($14.99) for use on all Apple iPhone and iPod Touch products. An updated version of the app will be made available for the Apple iPad once that device launches. Versions for Android, other Smartphone platforms, and e-readers are in development.
