LA Weekly’s Patrick Range McDonald to Ghostwrite Richard Riordan Memoir

Fresh off being named “Journalist of the Year” at the recent LA Press Club Awards, LA Weekly‘s Patrick Range McDonald is taking a six-month leave of absence from his paper to ghostwrite the memoirs of former LA mayor Richard Riordan.

“It’s going to take a serious look at his life,” McDonald told The Informer. “He knows a lot of people, and he’s been through a lot of different things — and he’s done well for himself.”

McDonald says despite being a “liberal Democrat openly gay man,” he has no qualms about working on the book with LA’s last Republican mayor. “[H]is stands on lots of issues have been largely liberal, and that’s why I’m comfortable working with him,” McDonald explains.
