Journalism Downturn Creates Pimps (?!?)

We were pretty sure we would never have to write this headline, but there it goes.

A sportswriter for the Manchester Union Leader started running a prostitution ring after he took a pay cut at his day job; he pleaded guilty to taking the money in Salem, Mass. superior court today, reports the CNHI News Service.

Kevin Provencher‘s attorney said that Provencher “only started his ‘side business’ to make up for a reduction in his sportswriter’s salary that resulted from the newspaper industry’s economic woes,” CNHI says.
