In Ghosts and Chic Portraits, the Spirit of the Street

Two exhibitions now up in New York infuse the spirit of the street into unique modes of art and design. First is Y Gallery‘s show by German artist Jim Avignon, whose style we think is best described as Gary Baseman meets John Kricfalusi with a pinch of Yoshitomo Nara (for that umami tang). Curated by Cecilia Jurado, the show is called “i looked in the mirror and i saw a ghost” and features Avignon’s whimsical paintings, furniture, and murals.
