Iconic Disney Watch Designer, Ralph Kent, Passes Away

Chalk this up as one of those moments where you learn about the person behind an icon piece of product design too late, only after they’ve passed away. Ralph Kent, the designer of perhaps the second most famous mouse-emblazoned object after the ears, the Mickey Mouse wristwatch, died this week. It’s a very interesting biography of a man we hadn’t heard about before today, being as he was one of the chief design minds, from 1963 on, employed at the company for more than forty years.
