Gannett Says 2Q Earnings Will Be at Top End of Analyst Predictions

USA Today publisher Gannett expects its second-quarter revenue to come in near the upper end of Wall Street analyst predictions, the company said yesterday.

The expected solid results will stem largely from strong demand for TV and online advertisements. The company’s newspaper business, meanwhile, continues to lag. The Associated Press reports:

Gannett’s newspapers … have yet to turn the corner. Gannett Co. Chief Financial Officer Gracia Martore told financial analysts Monday that the publishing segment will likely post another quarter of declining revenue compared with the same period of 2009, albeit a smaller decline than the ones reported last year.
