Fiji Says No To Rupert Murdoch

The Media Industry Development Decree, issued earlier this year by Fiji’s military government< has resulted in the forced removal of the News Corp-owned Fiji Times from the island nation. The decree maintains that 90 percent of shareholders comprising any given media organization must be permanent citizens of Fiji.

News Corp. says it will explore its options to see whether it can remain producing the 23-year-old paper in Fiji — the most-circulated in the country — but it does not seem likely.
