Employee Appreciation Or Brilliant Ad Campaign?

So it was Mukhtar the bus driver’s birthday last month, and even though he’s just a bus driver, his company decided to surprise him with a party.

HR dude Benjamin McCall wrote that employee appreciation like this is totally vital to an organization: “Do you think he will ever leave [his employer]?” It certainly is a cool retention technique.

Of course, the whole thing is part of a campaign by the bus companies to promote themselves. So retention is a nice side bonus, but not the main purpose.
