San Francisco-based file sharing company Dropbox is making a media splash this week in New York with its $10 billion valuation, $350 million round of funding and plans to grow east coast employee ranks to 25 by year’s end.
From a Betabeat report by Jack Smith IV:
A New York office is a chance for Dropbox to have sales and support close to some of its local clients, such as Refinery29, Macmillan Publishers and HUGE.
“Media has been one of our largest industries in terms of uptake,” Ross Piper, VP of enterprise strategy, said, “so we want to be as close to those customers as possible.” Fashion and retails are also ripe opportunities for Dropbox in New York, according to Piper.
A recruiting event for engineers and sales staff is scheduled to be held March 25. The company is currently housed in temporary digs on the NYU campus as it searches for a larger, permanent space.
