The newest indie to hit theaters — Miramax Films’ “Doubt,” based on John Patrick Shanley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play — has a phenomenal cast (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Streep) and looks resplendent, but reviews aren’t exactly over the moonstruck.
Shanley directed this version after only directing a little-appreciated film “Joe vs. the Volcano.”
