Coming: Furloughs at the Detroit News
The Detroit News guild voted to approve a one-week furlough in exchange for a guarantee that no layoffs would occur between now and May 1, 2010.
Each guild-covered Detroit News employee, as well as all management, will take five unpaid days between Jan 1, 2010 and Aug. 14, 2010.
This furlough echoes a similar agreement at the Detroit Free Press, with whom the News has a Joint Operating Agreement.
