Amarcord Screenwriter Tonino Guerra Dies at 92

Three-time Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Tonino Guerra died this past Wednesday in his native Italy. He was 92. Over the years,  Guerra collaborated with the great European filmmakers Federico Fellini, Andrei Tarkovsky and Theo Angelopoulos. He’s best known for helping pen the films Casanova ’70, Blow-Up and Fellini’s Amarcord–all of which were Oscar-nominated.

Guerra was given the Writers Guild of America, West’s Jean Renoir Award for screenwriting in 2011.
