Broadcast Journos In Demand: News Directors

If you’re a news director, you may have an easier time getting a job than an anchor, reporter, or weatherman. That’s what recruiter Sandra Connell told TVNewsCheck during the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Tampa, Fla.

Connell says that there are “plenty of candidates” for stations that are hiring, but not necessarily the candidates they want. Yet the caliber of employees is ratcheting up: “There are some young people coming into the business who are unbelievable…We’re seeing a lot of the schools turning out some really talented, nice young people and they’re getting good jobs because they have the skills to step into some of the bigger markets.”
