It can be tough to catch the attention of busy editors when you’re a new writer looking to score a byline. Luckily, the editor-in-chief of Brain, Child: The Magazine for Thinking Mothers empathizes. “I’ve been that new author… I always appreciated when magazines would take a chance on me. I like to do that for people, as well, as long as the work is excellent and meets our needs.” said EIC Marcelle Soviero.
Because Brain, Child is as much a literary magazine as it is a parenting one, if you give your pitches a literary bent, you’re more likely to break through. The mag and its website are undergoing some renovations, and are not only open to pitches for every section, but are also hoping to ramp up the book reviews and start publishing poetry.
