Big Changes at the AP

Late on Friday, Kathleen Carroll, the execuitve editor of the Associated Press, sent a memo to staffers announcing a host of changes brought on by senior managing editor Mike Silverman’s planned retirement at the end of March.

Mike Oreskes and John Daniszewski will both be elevated to Silverman’s title, and the pair will share his duties Oreskes, the former executive editor of the International Herald Tribune, joined the AP as U.S. news editor last year. He’ll run the “daily all-format and global news report” while Daniszewski “continue to oversee the international text division, including completion of the regionalization project he has led” and will oversee the photo department as well.
