American Medical Association Wants Condoms on Porn Stars

During their annual meeting this week, the AMA voted to support legislation requiring the use of condoms in pornographic films. Mandatory condom use is porn is a contentious issue here in L.A., the porn capital of the world. Opponents of such measures (mainly the porn companies) argue that the current safety standards are effective, and that customers don’t want to see condoms in adult films. Meaning customers might start spending their money on foreign-made films instead.

But the AMA seemed less concerned with protecting the porn industry’s bottom line than it was worker’s health and safety – and their solution includes government oversight.
