45 Jobs Eliminated at CBC
Canada’s hurting, too: in what the Canadian Media Guild fears is the first of many announcements, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has canceled two shows, eliminating all the jobs associated with them.
The CBC has canceled daytime television show Steven and Chris because of budget constraints. The cancellation will mean the elimination of around 40 contract, temporary and freelance positions in Toronto. In addition, the long-running Newsworld program Fashion File will be canceled at the end of this season, affecting at least six contract and freelance positions.
