What Do You Think Of The Post’s Huge Cheney Piece?

From Slate’s “Today’s Papers“:

Online the WP publishes readers’ comments directly below the Cheney piece. Someone named Sheri Rogers asks a particularly pertinent question: “What do we have to do to get the press to do a better job of critical reporting when it’s happening instead of six-and-a-half years later?” (To its credit, the Post has broken or moved along a number of stories on the administration’s more secretive programs.)

A friend of Laura Rozen tells her:

A careful reading of the story of Cheney’s coup against a feeble executive reveals that paragraphs 7 through 10 were written and inserted in haste by a powerful editorial hand. The banging of colliding metaphors in an otherwise carefully written piece is evidence of last-minute interpolations by a bad editor whom no one has the power to rewrite.
