As previously announced, Talking Points Memo is expanding in DC, with a new bureau and a couple of big new hires. TPM has snatched TWT‘s White House reporter Christina Bellantoni, as well as The Hotline‘s Evan McMorris-Santoro. Bellantoni joins as a senior reporter-blogger, still covering the White House.
The announcement on TPM‘s Editors Blog this afternoon:
A couple months ago I told you we were expanding (actually doubling the size of) our reporting staff at TPM. So I wanted to give you a quick update.
Over the summer I asked TPM’s Managing Editor David Kurtz to relocate from Missouri to Washington, DC to head up a new TPM DC office. And our new DC Bureau will open next week.
We also have two new hires to announce. Christina Bellantoni of the Washington Times will be joining us as Senior Reporter-Blogger covering the White House and Obama’s Washington. We’ve also hired Evan McMorris-Santoro, from The Hotline, who will also be reporting for us from DC.
Bellantoni’s email to friends and colleagues is after the jump…

Subject: A new adventure
Friends and colleagues,
I wanted to pass along some news – I’ll be leaving the Washington Times Oct. 2.
I’ve accepted a senior reporting position at Talking Points Memo, where I will cover the White House, Congress and national politics starting Oct. 5.
It’s an exciting opportunity at a growing company and I’m thrilled to add to the team. More good news about TPMDC is to come, so stay tuned.
It has been a fun six years at The Times as I hopped from Metro to covering Congress, then the campaign and the White House, and I’m grateful for all the opportunities the paper has afforded me, especially learning multimedia and covering the ’08 election.
I’ll update you soon with my new contact info, but this email is the best for personal notes or party invites.
Thanks for your support, hope to see you soon.
