winning2.jpg FishbowlDC can breathe a sigh of relief. The Hill‘s Jordy Yager received a whopping three awards Tuesday night from the Society of Professional Journalists – two first place prizes in the spot news and features categories. Best of all, his story with the headline, “I was not a pretty girl and I felt like I was a man,” won a first-place prize.

The release the publication posted on its website unfortunately never repeated the fantastic headline but instead described it as YagerÂ’s “other” first-place award “focused on the first openly transgender staffer on Capitol Hill.”

Congratulations to Yager the many other journos from the pub that won awards. First place awards went to A.B. Stoddard and Kevin Bogardus. Others who received awards included Jared Allen, Alexander Bolton, Silla Brush, Kris Kitto, Jim Snyder (now at Bloomberg News) and Roxana Tiron.
