Politico's Epstein Joins White House Beat

Politico‘s Jennifer Epstein gets to – gasp! – set her alarm clock slightly later since she’s joining the White House team. We hope this means she gets to sleep in until 5 a.m.  Replacing her on the Breaking News desk is Mackenzie Weinger, a Politico summer intern who also completed internships at NJ and Roll Call.

Congratulations to all.

See the internal memo from Managing Editor Bill Nichols.

Folks,
As we gear up for an eventful fall, we wanted to let you know about a couple of changes that should keep us at the top of our game.

First, Jennifer Epstein – who along with Gregg Birnbaum, Reid Epstein and now Tim Mak has quickly established our Breaking News desk as an essential part of POLITICO – will be setting her alarm clock just a little bit later and joining the White House staff. From Arab Spring to the political news of the moment, Jennifer has written it all and written it extremely well during her time on Breaking News and I know Bill and Rachel look forward to seeing her talents trained on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Joining Breaking News will be Mackenzie Weinger, whom most of you have gotten to know during her summer internship with us. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara, Mackenzie came to us after internships with National Journal and Roll Call and excelled at pretty much everything we threw at her during her time here over the past few months. With her addition, we feel confident Breaking News can continue to own the mornings.

So, congrats to Jennifer and a more official welcome to Mackenzie to the POLITICO family. Both these changes start today.

Bill
