In an internal memo this afternoon, NJ‘s Editor-in-Chief Ron Fournier, expresses his sadness for the departure of two journalists — Susan Davis, a “quiet leader” and Managing Editor for Politics Kathy Kiely, a “gentle spirit.” Davis is off to USA Today. Kiely is going to work for the Sunlight Foundation.

I am saddened to announce the departure of two of our friends: Kathy Kiely and Sue Davis.
Kathy is joining the Sunlight Foundation after a year as NJ’s Managing Editor for Politics. Kathy is a tremendous teacher and gentle spirit who led us through multiple debates and launched the NJ-CBS “embed program,” an unqualified success.
Sue is joining USA Today after a year as Major Garrett’s partner in crime as Congressional Correspondent. She was a quiet leader on the team and help point the Daily in a new direction while serving on the 2.0 task force.
It is an understatement to say that they will both be missed.
