Helen THOMAS writes to the White House Correspondents’ Association in what outgoing President Ann Compton calls “strong and firm handwriting”: “Dear Ann: Thank you and the entire White House Press Corps for their concern and kindness shown to me during my illness. I don’t know how to express my gratitude. I miss everyone and the daily briefings where we can challenge the powers that be. Thank you again for all you have done which makes me happy to know I have so many kind friends.
