Last week we announced nominees in FishbowlDC’s 2014 Summer Superlatives in three categories Hottest TV Personality, Most in Need of a Reality Show, and Future/Former Boy Band Members.
Before we announce Round 2 of 3, we’re here with an update of where things stand in the final 72 hours of the first round of the competition.
For much of last week, CNN’s Jake Tapper and Brianna Keilar were neck and neck for first place in the Hottest TV Personality category. FOX 5’s Steve Chenevey has since taken the top spot with 34.32% of the category votes. Also in the running: FOX News’ Bret Baier and NBC Washington’s Angie Goff and Eun Yang. One thing we’ve learned, it is fun to pit persons from the same network against each other.
New to the superlatives competition is this year’s Future/Former Boy Band Members category. Leading is The Hill’s Kevin Cirilli, previously with POLITICO, who has more than 50% of the votes. In second with nearly a quarter of the support is CNN cutie Peter Morris. Also nominated, NBC Washington’s David Culver, WJLA’s Kevin Lewis and Scott Thuman, and The Atlantic’s James Hamblin.
Rounding out Round 1 of voting is the ever-important superlative for Most in Need of a Reality Show. In it, there’s 6 great contenders, including POLITICO’s Big Money author Ken Vogel with nearly half the votes thus far. BuzzFeed’s John Stanton and ESPN’s Britt McHenry are in a close second and third, respectively, along with Pamela Sorensen, of Pamela’s Punch, the “Reliable Source” ladies Helena Andrews and Emily Heil, and the Washington Life magazine touting John Arundel.
No use getting mad at Fishbowl, these were all reader suggestions. And we’re still taking nominations for the other seven categories – Sexiest Radio Voice, Best Writing, Hottest PR Guy/Girl, Cutest Couple, Most #basic, Best Hair, and Biggest Troublemaker – so send yours to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tomorrow we’ll be back with Round 2 of 3 for this year’s superlatives and Thursday we’ll announce winners in the below categories. Get voting!
