It's time to take a swing through the cluttered pages of D.C.'s features and lifestyle sections to see what's making waves. Porn Stars Aren't As Damaged As We Thought - According to this story in The Daily Caller, a new study says females in porno flicks are a little more normal than we might think. The study from The Journal of Sex Research says, "In terms of psychological characteristics, porn actresses had higher levels of self-esteem, positive feelings, social support, sexual satisfaction, and spirituality compared to the matched group." Of COURSE they have higher spirituality than other people. They've spent more time in the missionary position that any of us. Is that why they're constantly screaming, "OH GOD, OH GOD, OH JESUS" while getting drilled by a chiseled military instructor with no body hair? Smoked Meat and Politics - WaPo's All We Can Eat has a feature on the history of the Red, Hot and Blue BBQ chain. Apparently, one of its founders was Don Sundquist, the former GOP Congressman from Tennessee. Not only that, one of their original investors was GOP strategist Lee Atwater. Maybe the fact that their BBQ is so tied to politics explains why it tastes so bitter and foul. What else is going on in Features? File this under: BORING - As if the news in this town wasn't boring enough, Slate sent Mark O'Connell to cover something called "The Boring Conference." It took place in England and celebrated topics that many consider to be boring. If you're wondering what those topics include, we are told they include "supermarket self-service checkouts" (with an emphasis on the phenomenon of “unexpected items in the bagging area”). A former postman gave a talk on letterboxes and the neglected problem of protective bristles, and there was allegedly a very well-received presentation on discontinued IBM cash registers. Yep. That definitely counts as boring. Do Straight Guys Think Leggings Are Hot? - That's the question posed by HuffPost in this piece. They claim that there is a raging debate among men over whether or not leggings on ladies are hot or not. I fall firmly in the camp that if a lady isn't wearing jeggings (the legging-jean hybrid), then she has no business talking to me. Apparently, people have a lot of opinions on this matter. HuffPost asked around and here are some of our favorite responses. The first guy says, "I personally think it's hot. I think it would be exceptionally rare to find a straight guy who would be mad about cute girls wearing super-tight clothing." One gentleman says, "I mean, if you like camel toes... call me old fashioned, but I'm the kind of guy who likes a little mystery." Who DOESN'T like camel toes??? Another upstanding chap remarks, "The part where the leggings come up to the ass where there's a little space may be God's greatest gift to man." This is a man who seems to have spent far too much examining the female form. He sounds like the kind of guy who would show up for your date with some chocolates, flowers and a human foot.
