From the announcement:
We’re pleased to announce that Eric Pianin will be joining washingtonpost.com as senior editor of politics. In this new role, Eric will become an integral player in our broader effort to generate the most aggressive, compelling and provocative political site on the web. Eric will work closely with Russ Walker and Jason Manning in helping us strengthen the communication and collaboration between the political staffs of the site and the newspaper, so that we are working as seamlessly as possible to ensure that Post politics dominates on paper and online.
As a veteran of both political coverage and The Post’s newsroom, Eric is ideally suited for this new role. Most recently, he was the deputy National editor overseeing Congressional reporting, where he supervised five reporters on their coverage of Congress and related political news. He has been involved in the coverage of numerous congressional campaigns either as a reporter or editor and has vast experience covering the Hill, as well as issues from the environment to the budget and taxes.
Eric has a good working relationship with his colleagues now and a polished reputation for being aggressive on the news and smart in his deployment of resources. We’re delighted that he will be bringing his deep resume and high standards to the website.
Eric will start at washingtonpost.com on March 5.
