Bennett Roth is leaving his K Street beat with Roll Call for an editor role on Bloomberg’s Congressional Tracking team. Though he doesn’t begin the new gig until May 31st, sources tell FishbowlDC that a little competitive envy is to blame for his accelerated departure from Roll Call. A post on Roth’s Facebook profile seems to confirm the rumor:
“As the media world turns – heading to new journalistic adventures at Bloomberg starting date May 31 looks like I may have a two week holiday before that.”
Roth’s career in journalism spans three decades; two of which were spent covering Washington politics and government. Before joining Roll Call, he covered Congressional leadership for CQ. Prior to that, Roth served as a national reporter in the Washington bureau of the Houston Chronicle, where he covered the White House, Congress and four presidential elections. He has also worked for the Dallas Times Herald, Black River Tribune, Bennington Banner in Vermont, and Albany Times Union in Albany, N.Y.. Congrats to Ben!
