Are We Done Gawking Now?

WaPo‘s Ian Shapira hosted a lively online discussion this morning where he addressed Gawker‘s now-infamous use of his work and sought to explain “what makes a story compelling and a journalist trustworthy”. You’ll recall that Shapira was none-too-pleased with Hamilton Nolan’s misappropriation of his story on July 9.

The mostly anything-goes-in-media-these-days-so-get-over-it pool of questioners threw some zingers at Shapira. Some choice quotes:

– “I had nothing to do with Gawker’s servers going down [most of Monday afternoon].
