Are you a huge “X-Men” or “Star Trek” fan with an extra $250 to spend? If so, we have an event just for you.
As part of Smithsonian Magazine’s upcoming “Future Is Here” festival taking place May 16-18 in DC, host of NPR’s “Weekend Edition Saturdays” Scott Simon will interview and have a Q&A with Patrick Stewart following an advance screening of “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier, is also well known for portraying Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the “Star Trek” franchise.
Tickets are steep – with all that’s left going for $250 – but we hear that for die hard Trekkies, money is not an object.
Stewart is featured on the current cover of Smithsonian Magazine and headlines the weekend of events which also includes actor George Takei, also from “Star Trek,” the engineer of NASA’s Mars Rover Adam Steltzner, and cosmologist Brian Greene, among others.
The theme of this year’s festival is “Science Meets Science Fiction.” For more information, visit The Future is Here.
