40 Year DC TV Veteran Arch Campbell to Leave WJLA

arch-campbellDCRTV reports that WJLA and News Channel 8’s Arch Campbell is set to leave local news and his Thursday and Friday evening hosting gig of the entertainment and comedy program “The Arch Campbell Show.”

Campbell has reported on movies, theatre and entertainment in Washington for more than 40 years, with WJLA since 2007, and NBC4 for 32 years prior. Campbell’s departure comes weeks after the completed sale of WJLA and News Channel 8 from Allbritton Communications to Sinclair Broadcasting Group.

Campbell shared with DCRTV that he’s headed to his hometown of San Antonio and will continue to post movie reviews at ArchCampbell.org. DCRTV reports that Campbell shared on Facebook, “The new owners of 7 and 8 have graciously asked me to let them know if and when I want to return. But right now I’m taking a break. I have a couple of exciting projects ahead and a few personal things to do.”

Campbell’s last day on air in Washington will be August 28.
