If you want the latest in mobile devices, the message we’ve been seeing based on a number of recent launches is: Don’t live in the United States.
Microsoft, for example, launched its first wave of Windows Phone 7 devices in Europe last Fall. Earlier, Dell released its first Android phone in China, its first quasi-tablet Dell Streak 5 in the U.K., and, most recently, its first 10-inch tablet in China.
The second generation Windows Phones manufactured by Nokia will also be available in Europe before the U.S.
Next up to bypass the U.S.? Motorola’s Droid 3 which is branded as Milestone outside of the U.S.
The Milestone 3 (XT883) has a pull-out QWERTY keyboard with a number row, dual-core processor, 4-inch display and an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p HD video. It is based on Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread).
