World Press Photo Names Top Images

Amazing work.

The winners of the 59th annual World Press Photo contest have been announced, and as usual, the images are stunning. The contest drew 82,951 entries from 5,775 photographers.

The Photo of The Year was “Hope for a New Life,” taken by freelance photojournalist Warren Richardson.

One of our favorites is below. It was taken by John Kim for The Chicago Tribune. The caption: “Lamon Reccord stares down a police sergeant during a protest following the fatal shooting of Laquan McDonald by police in Chicago, Illinois, USA.”
