Elizabeth Mayhew is leaving TV to be the new editor of Hachette Filipacchi Media women’s service title Woman’s Day, following a search aided by famed magazine editor Tina Brown.
Mayhew has been a lifestyle contributor to NBC’s Today and had editorial roles at House Beautiful and Real Simple magazines. She starts as vp, editor in chief of brand content for the Woman’s Day Group on Jan. 4. She will replace WD’s longtime editor Jane Chesnutt, who will move into a consulting role.
Carlos Lamadrid, senior vp, chief brand officer for the Woman’s Day Group, said Mayhew brings experience developing content for TV, books and the Web that will be important to Woman’s Day. He said he hired Brown, past editor of The New Yorker and Vanity Fair, to aid in the search, because she has a classic content background but also has a fantastic knowledge of marketing and new media.
Mayhew will report to Lamadrid. The company’s chief editors have been reporting to the business side under a reorganization at Hachette earlier this year.
