They were our first playdates, clutched carefully between thumb and middle finger as we pressed hard on pulpy, flecked construction paper. Remember the sound of them rolling around that plastic pencil box with the faded Star Wars stickers? How they were really never as good once they’d been sharpened? Now, we can revisit the “Sesame Street” segment where we first learned exactly where our waxed wonders came from.
