Waze Social Traffic App Hits 20 Million Users

Waze, a driving application that leverages its users to crowdsource local traffic data, has announced that they've hit 20 million users. That's a big number, and it represents a doubling of the population in the last 6 months and 1.6 million users have joined in the last month alone. If this app is hitting critical mass, it may become the go to app for determining current traffic situations on your iOS/Android.

Waze, a driving application that leverages its users to crowdsource local traffic data, has announced that they’ve hit 20 million users. That’s a big number, and it represents a doubling of the population in the last 6 months and 1.6 million users have joined in the last month alone. If this app is hitting critical mass, it may become the go to app for determining current traffic situations on your iOS/Android.

Waze has been steadily improving their offering to not just show you traffic, but now shows you gas stations and even gas station specials. The service has its eyes set on being the drivers’ app. The users at Waze get points for updating gas stations with current prices, mapping locations, friends’ lists, a whole slew of restaurant and entertainment landmarks and of course, traffic.

One of the major new additions is handsfree traffic reporting. Take a look at the video below to see how a person can report traffic or an accident using the Waze app on handsfree mode. This is an awesome feature that will really help the power users.
