“Hey! You sank my battleship!” Do you remember this reaction of many a crestfallen youngster in 1980’s commercials for Milton Bradley’s Battleship? Here’s your chance to translate your love for the classic naval combat game into a new job. The Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum is seeking a new media designer to join its New York City headquarters, which also happens to be the decommissioned, 900-foot-long Essex-class aircraft carrier Intrepid (only slightly damaged in a 1944 kamikaze attack). The position entails developing, organizing, and managing museum websites and producing art and copy layouts for material such as books, magazines, signage, and exhibits. Get a feel for shipboard life with the extraordinary Maro Chermayeff-directed documentary, Carrier, now viewable online at PBS’s website.
