Wall Street Journal to Add New York Sports Coverage

In addition to a new Metro section stocked with former stars at the defunct New York Sun, The Wall Street Journal will be amping up its sports coverage as it takes on The New York Times, the Observer reports.

Citing sources, the New York Observer‘s John Koblin says that the Journal has picked up Yankees reporter Jim Baumbach from Newsday and Mets reporter Mike Sielski. Koblin also points to a Big League Sports blog report that three additional reporters — the Bergen Record‘s Aditi Kinkhabwala, the Memphis Commerical Appeal‘s Scott Cacciola and The New York Times‘ Sophia Hollander — are also joining the Journal.
