Facebook is the world’s biggest social media platform, with an active user base of some 1.3 billion users.
But what’s the second biggest social channel on the planet?
It’s YouTube, which has an audience in excess of one billion, and shows absolutely no signs of slowing down. Is YouTube a social network in the same style as Facebook? Perhaps not. But as social content is increasingly visual content, video platforms such as YouTube are gobbling up huge chunks of all of our time – particularly with the increasingly key millennial demographic (and even younger).
China’s QQ, Qzone, WeChat and Sina Weibo collectively are bigger than anything, but individually are each some way short of Facebook. Meanwhile, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and LinkedIn are sitting pretty with 200-300 million actives a piece.
