Time Inc plans to make all of its magazine titles available on all (most) tablets by the end of the year. Titles as diverse as Real Simple, Instyle, and Entertainment Weekly will join Time’s current digital titles Fortune, People, Time, and Sports Illustrated on the digital news rack.
“Now is the time for us to make this bold commitment. In the coming year, there will clearly be many more consumers using tablets, accelerating demand for content and driving advertiser interest. We are putting ourselves in a great position to take advantage of these opportunities,” said Maurice Edelson, EVP and a member of Time Inc.’s interim management committee. “Having our entire portfolio available on tablets will create a significant new digital reach for our advertisers.”
And by all tablet Time does mean all tablets. it signed a deal today with Barnes & Noble. Later this month B&N will start selling digital subscriptions to Fortune, People, Time, and Sports Illustrated, with the rest of the titles arriving in the NookStore by the end of the year. NookColor owners and users of the Nook Android or iOS apps will gain access to the same digital magazine titles published by Time that can be found in iTunes.
Subscriptions to the various magazines will all fall under Time’s new “All Access” plan, which offers complete digital access with any print subscription. You can find Time’s digital magazine apps in Itunes, the Android Market, and on the TouchPad.
