The New York Times to Publish Reader-Created Wedding Announcement Videos

If you’re the type of person who somehow thinks getting your wedding announced in the New York Times just isn’t enough, now you can add your own video too. The New York Times, in an effort to help people be even more narcissistic, is now accepting user-created wedding announcement videos. Typically, videos for the website’s Vows section have been created by Times staffers, but now the site is opening up its arms to the visions of readers everywhere.

Ann Derry, Editorial Director for Television and Video for the Times, tells Beet.TV that the first submissions will appear on the website this weekend. She adds that because there have been vows videos published many times before, “people should be able to figure out how to do one,” and “it should be interesting.”

Oh, it’s going to be interesting alright.
