The List of TNR Resignations Grows Amid Shake Up

It’s been a really, really bad week for The New Republic.

Following the resignation of Franklin Foer and Leon Wieseltier on Thursday, a slew of senior and contributing editors took to Twitter to announce that they would be following suit.

The shakeup comes a month after new leadership took over the progressive magazine.

The new CEO, Guy Vidra, former general manager for Yahoo News, and publisher/editor-in-chief, Chris Hughes, co-founder of Facebook, reportedly wanted to take TNR in a new direction that didn’t align with the editors’ vision for the publication. The disagreement ultimately led to Foer and Wieseltier’s resignations…and now plenty of others.

Ryan Lizza, now former contributing editor for The New Republic, announced his resignation on Twitter Thursday — then tweeted the newest list of resignations today. It includes much of TNR‘s senior staff.
