Say hello to MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Co-host Mika Brzezinski. She appeared in downtown Washington this week for a book appearance at Sixth & I Synagogue. Her new book is Knowing Your Value: Women, Money and Getting What You’re Worth. Her father is foreign policy expert and former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski. Her mother is sculptor Emilie Anna Benešová, a grandniece of Czechoslovakia’s former president Edvard Beneš. Brzezinksi graduated from The Madeira School, a private girl’s school in McLean, Va. intended for students who are “bright, curious and independent.” She proceeded to Williams, where she earned a degree in English.
If you were a carbonated beverage which would you be? Mountain Dew. Because it has a lot of caffeine, but its really bad for you so don’t drink it!
How often do you Google yourself? Good question. It says so much.
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever said to an editor (or vice versa)? I can’t imagine being unkind to any editor or producer. I’m a sweet flower.

What’s the name of your cell phone ring? How do I find that? Joe programmed it.
When did you last cry and why? Last Saturday night when I realized I couldn’t be in 5 places at once.
What word do you routinely misspell? My own name because the computer auto correct always wants to call me “Mike”
When you pig out what do you eat? Big boxes of sweet cereal. Please don’t tell anyone!
What word or phrase do you overuse? Yeeeeeaaaahh.

What and where was your first job in journalism? Channel 9 in Washington doing beat checks at 16 years old.
What’s your most embarrassing career moment? Wow – where do I begin? There are so many I’ve started to black them out. Who knows what tomorrow holds…

Which one interview of your career did you enjoy most? Every single one with my father and the piece i did on my mother for CBS Sunday Morning.
Which one interview of your career did you enjoy least? There is nothing that involves getting answers that I don’t enjoy
What’s the biggest scoop you’ve ever had? Hard to define because I did an investigative piece for CBS that lead to a big recall that was an “exclusive” yet I found the series I did on bi-polar disorder in young children (an issue that has been covered) to be personally more enlightening and important.
When and why did you last laugh so hard you had tears in your eyes? I can’t bring it up because I got so much hate mail when it happened.
When and why did you last lose your temper? It isn’t something I can talk about because I might lose it again.
