“Face the Nation” continued to be the top-rated Sunday show last week, edging out “Meet the Press” by more than 30,000 viewers. The good news for Bob Schieffer and CBS comes on top of strong 4th quarter numbers released last week. Despite coming in second for that week to ABC, CBS ended the year in first place overall by 420,000 viewers and by 130,000 in the key 25-54 demographic.
By contrast, NBC’s “Meet the Press” is struggling. The show has not won overall in ratings since November 3rd last year -and then just barely. It ended the 4th quarter last year in third place, losing to ABC for the first time in 17 years. Media critics have noted the show’s downward trajectory since 2008, when David Gregory took over, and we here at FishbowlDC have even reported that NBC may be looking to replace him.
The numbers for January 5:
|CBS||“Face the Nation”||3.45M||1.03M|
|NBC||“Meet the Press”||3.42M||1.00M|
|FOX||“Fox News Sunday”||1.48M||485K|
