This afternoon we match WaPo‘s The Fix reporter Aaron Blake with Cory Monteith, the Canadian actor who plays Finn Hudson on the hit FOX show “Glee!” From what we know of Blake, he can cook but he cannot sing. Other than that, the similarities are potentially boundless.
This is a timely pairing. Splashed on the cover of this weekend’s Parade Magazine in Sunday’s WaPo is Monteith. The profile reveals details about the star’s troubled teen years and how “tough love” turned him around. By 13 he was “skipping school to get drunk and high.” His mother told him to shape up or get out. The drug problem festered until about age 19 when he finally hit rehab and a family member threatened to turn him in for stealing money. Blake, on the other hand, is something of an angel from Minneapolis, Minn., where we hear that “Minnesota nice” is all the rage.
