Roll Call: Ketchum, Edelman, Waggener Edstrom, and More

Staffing news from around the industry.

Laura Pesin Eder became the second DeVries executive to depart for Edelman, where she will be EVP and director of operations for the New York-based corporate practice.

Eder officially started in the new role last week, and she will work on client services as well as internal talent management duties. Eder, who previously held roles at MSLGroup, Lippe Taylor, and more, will report to Stephanie Smirinov, the former CEO of DeVries Global who left to join Edelman in Summer 2013 as its managing director of consumer marketing. Ketchum promoted Paul Wood (NOT to be confused with our own Shawn Paul Wood) to director of its New York-based corporate practice. Wood, who previously served as EVP and group manager, will replace Tamara Norman; she has been associate director of Ketchum New York since June. (PR Week)

The London offices of Waggener Edstrom announced six new strategic partners across Africa. The firm’s Johannesburg, South Africa business has grown rapidly since its founding five years ago, and now it will work with  Core Public Relations, Corporate Talk Group, Exclamation Marketing Ltd., Hotwire PRC, Lift Consulting, and XLR8 to extend its services to clients located across the continent.

Korn Ferry, the self-described “world’s largest executive search firm,” named Peter McDermott as a principal specializing in corporate comms, investor relations, and related searches across industries. He joins the firm from New York’s Taylor Bennett, where he “focused on the communications functional space in the US and abroad.”
