ROK Takes Controlling Interest in App Developer Geniem

Mobile apps firm ROK Entertainment has taken a 51% interest in Geniem, a Finnish mobile and Web applications development company.

Genium’s branded applications that it’s built for content producers and carriers are installed on more than 15 million mobile device decks, Fierce Mobile Content reports.

ROK, whose applications include free mobile TV and radio among others, has been building up its product portfolio by acquisition. According to ROK CEO Laurence Alexander, buying Genium places the company “in the forefront on on-device portals, Bluetooth technologies and social media via mobile and Web applications.”
