Three new reporters are joining Reuter’s election team, it was announced yesterday.
Erin McPike joins Reuters’ DC bureau as a political reporter, where she’ll cover the presidential campaign, her third. McPike has been working as a freelance reporter. Prior to that, she was a correspondent in CNN’s Washington bureau.
Joining McPike in DC is Ginger Gibson, who also comes on as a political reporter. Gibson, who starts at the end of August, comes to Reuters from the International Business Times, where she is a senior political reporter. As Ken Kurson describes in PolitickerNJ, Gibson is known in the Garden State for her tough coverage of Chris Christie when she was a reporter at the Star-Ledger during Christie’s first term as governor, making things interesting now that he’s a presidential candidate.
Grant Smith will be a data reporter covering the campaign finance beat from New York. Smith is an adjunct at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, where he teaches interactive journalism. Prior to that, he was a data reporter at the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
